Hands down this is the sweetener I most recommend and the one I use every day. It has proven health benefits, has an insignificant effect on blood sugar, and is all-natural. Plus it mixes with everything just like sugar, and tastes just as good.
Xylitol is a safe and natural sweetener, often called Birch sugar because it is made from Birch Tree bark, and it tastes just like sugar, but has 40% less calories and creates no sugar highs or lows! You can mix it into hot or cold beverages or bake with it using it in the same quantity as you would sugar (i.e. 1 Tbsp sugar= 1 Tbsp Xylitol). Also, Xylitol does not feed intestinal yeast, and does not raise insulin or blood sugar levels.
