The Bar I've Been Waiting For!

As you know, I'm a huge fan of the vitamin company Designs for Health and I carry a lot of their products in the vitamin store. Well, they've just come out with a new bar and it's amazing. While I won't go so far as to say it tastes exactly like a Mounds bar, it's close enough for rock and roll!

The bar is called Cocommune Bar and it's a sugar free blend of rich dark chocolate with a creamy coconut filling. It's kosher, and it also includes 500mg of Designs for Health special colostrums formula, Tegricel, which was designed to enhance general immune function.

The fat in the bar comes from coconut and coconut oil, which are among my favorite super-foods, rich in the medium chain triglycerides that possess anti-bacterial and anti-microbal properties. As readers of my book "The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth" know, the fat in coconut is preferentially burned by the body for energy rather than stored as fat.

It gets better. The whole bar only has 160 calories, and only one gram of sugar. (It does have sugar alcohols, but is still considered a pretty low carb bar!) And it has a nice 4 grams of fiber, not bad for a snack or mini-meal treat.

The bar will be in the store as of today under bars and shakes. I expect it to sell out quickly. I'm pretty sure you're going to love this bar as much as I do, so I'm going to add two bars to every vitamin store order over $50 that comes in over the next seven days (offer valid until May 19th).

Jonny,
Why does this bar contain so much transfat? Doesn't that make it inherently unhealthy? Please shed some light on this.

Great eyes, and both I and the company that makes this, thank you for finding this. It is a complete misprint on the part of Emerson Ecologics, the distributor, and they will be correcting it. For reasons unknown, they typed this in wrong when reading the actual label of the bar, so the web page says Trans Fats 9 when it should have said Trans Fats 0. On the actual bar itself, that listing is not there.

There are zero trans fats in this bar.

Thanks for catching that!!

The company is on the phone with Emerson right now correcting it!

This sounds like a fabulous product. Will there be any other flavors. Coconut is one I don't care for.

I just tried this bar for the first time and it is amazing! Hard to believe it's good for you. Any chance you will be offering them in a case rather than just single bars? Also, with all I know about everything in moderation, how often would you recommend eating one of these bars?
Thanks,
Holly

These bars are amazing? Will you be offering them in a case, or single bar only? How often do you eat these? I don't want to go overboard.
Thanks

They are indeed, and they are quite addictive (but in a good way!)

I think moderation means keeping them as a reasonable portion of your days calories. Remember, there's still a lot of vegetables, protein, fruit, etc to eat so you don't want to use up 50% of the days fuel with bars!

that said i can't see a problem with one a day- it's hard to define "reasonable" or "moderate" with a certain amount, but one a day sounds good to me.

Right now there's no case available, but there would be 18 in a case if there were, and it would be pretty much the same price as 18 of them. That's what it is with other Designs for Health products

Hey Johnny,
So, why, after over a month does the ad say the bars have 9g of TRANSFAT? Are we to assume that it actually does then. Also, it would be nice to be able to get these bars without gelatin. I prefer to have a bar without the ground up animal bones. :-0 Besides the above, I just wanted to thank you for your site. I've learned a lot.
